You will want to have a phone line for your business only. Do not use a home number, as you will be littered with calls all day and night and not know which ones are which. Having a dedicated business line will allow you to take calls during your business hours. Making money from home starts with having the proper working conditions to do it in.

Open and Close

The hardest part about making money from home is that everyone thinks you are now home to party. You will find that people will drop buy, call, and try to communicate with online more than ever. This is not how to make good business practices.

You need to tell people when you are open for business and closed for the day. This sets the appropriate boundaries not only for customers, but for those friends and family members who need to realize that you are working from home, not pursuing a hobby. Set your daily and weekly work schedule and not only put it up for your customers, give it to everyone you know.

Make it clear that during those specific hours you are only available for work related calls. That unless it is emergent, you will not be able to promptly get back to them. This allows you to focus on making money from home and still have time off after to do all the fun things you enjoy.
