Keeping People Out of Your Office

If you do not have one already, you will need a private place to get your work done with the fewest interruptions as possible.

Your office should have a door, a "do not disturb" sign, and be set up to make you as functional as possible. When you work at home and have children, you will want to have a sitter lined up. Children require too much attention to effectively attend to them and get your work done.

If your spouse stays at home with the children, then ask them to make sure that the kids do not come to the office and try to gain your attention.

If your spouse works as well then you should hire in-home care or have the children in daycare.

All friends and family should know when you work at home so that they do not drop by when you are working.

If they do, then you may have to tell them that you are not available or not even answer the door or their calls. The fewer distractions that you have, the quicker you will get your work done.

Then you will have all the time in the world for your family and friends.
